What Should Be On Your Camping Gear List?

To prepare for your camping trip, creating a camping gear list will help you be more organized so you won’t forget any essential items. Double checking your list before leaving is also encouraged to make sure you don’t forget anything. The last thing you want to do is take off for your camping trip and forget to bring camping gear that is essential in order for you to get the most out of your experience.

Even if it is just a cooking utensil, it could make preparing food much more difficult. If you are a beginner when it comes to camping, you however may not even be sure what your camping gear list should consist of.

Take Only The Essentials

When determining which camping gear you want to take with you, the first tip is to avoid putting too much gear in your backback. Only focus on adding the most critical items to your camping gear list to ensure that you have fun while also being safe. If you are going camping with others, find out what the other campers have packed so you avoid bringing items that will already be there.

At minimum, a tent should be on your camping gear list that fits the time of year you are going. If camping is an activity that you plan on doing frequently and throughout the year, purchasing a tent that can be used for all seasons might be your best bet. In addition to the right tent, your camping gear list should include other sleeping items including blankets, sleeping bag, pillow, sun shelter, and a flashlight or lantern.

Some tools to consider adding to your camping gear list include a rope and twine, a hammer, nails, pocketknife, handsaw, and a camping axe. Cooking items include a can opener, pots, pans, plates, a liquid gas stove or propane, BBQ, and utensils to eat and serve the food with.

Food items should probably be added to your camping gear list as well such as bread, cereals, eggs, condiments, cooking oil, packaged bagels, and so on.

If you are looking for winter camping gear, be sure to find a tent that can withstand extreme weather. The tent must have features such as rain-fly, storage, poles, steep sidewalls, webbing and mesh.
